Kinja'd!!!

For $15 more I could have saved jacking it up, crawling under it & running around finding tools for stuff that was over tightened.

Kinja'd!!!

One neighbour always has tool I don’t have, today it was an oil filter wrench for the filter that was put on too tight previously. Then the 2ft breaker bar to remove the drain plug, again on way too tight. For as much as I paid for materials it would have cost $15 more to have a shop do it, I already paid for the materials so I figured I do it.

I was ALMOST able to do an oil change on an 07' Corolla yesterday without having to get it in the air. The oil pan I had was too tall and I couldn’t effectively get the plug out without cramming the pan in place fast enough to not make a huge mess. That thing was simple to change the oil. Everything was accessible and right in front of you.

The drain plug & filter are in easy spots, but impossible to access on the ground.

But if you had done it the previous time the filter and plug wouldn’t have been too tight

“launch mode”

H ow’d that nifty filter wrench work? I hate it when the dealer jams the filter on so tight you have to tear it to get it off... .

Why don’t you have more crap in your garage? That is obscenely  empty/clean/underutilized!

This is how you end up doing your own oil changes for life. Now you never want to go back to a quicklube because it ruins your day trying to get their over-tightened nonsense undone.

The shop is my go too, great techs & management. Good rates, & super clean. No bull shit. It must have been the new tech that did it last.

It was neat, the 3 prongs adjust to filter size as soon it it feels pressure. It has fixed gear in the middle, & each prong has a 1/2 gear. I was skeptical, but now I need one. Beats a band style filter wrench.
